The assignment is to post a blog reflecting on blogging and how I might use Real(ly) Simple Syndication in my classes/work:

Syndication of information can be used in multiple ways. First, as an academic researcher, teachers are constantly looking for new information to move into their curriculum. Using feeds to an aggregator can accomplish this task. The faculty member simply subscribes to information and can quickly check what is new.

As a teaching tool, however, narrowing down the scope of tons of information is another job of the instructor. Finding the right sites for your students is the first step. The next step is to feed those sites onto a collector page that your students see and limiting the information to specific research areas and numbers of feeds will keep students from being overwhelmed.

The final step is to incorporate that information into the class discussions or otherwise use the information in assignments, enrichment activities or simply refer to the information enough times to keep the students going there.

Here's a cool web site, Teacher Tube. It is a You Tube for instruction.

The assignment is to post a blog reflecting on blogging and how I might use blogging in my classes/work:

I have had blogs for a while a private one and some for work. I also subscribe to a few blogs.

I expect to use blogs more this coming semester. I have an MCLI summer project for my management classes which will be presented with a blog. I also have the Blackboard blog for faculty to receive organized, searchable posts about what they need to know about Blackboard.
The assignment is: Post a blog reflecting on social bookmarking and how you might use social bookmarking in your classes/work:

Answer: Social bookmarking and other related technologies are critical areas for students to learn and use. I plan to use these technologies in my courses in two ways. First, as a resource for students which I will write and publish. Second, as a tool for students to turn in assignments that are public as opposed to private. I will continue to use the course management tool, Blackboard for more private/semi-private tools.
